Daily Report – 8/31/2023

Good morning from Naylor Lake, 41 degrees, slight wind. Well guys this will be my last morning with you. As many of you know, I have plans to be out of the country but no worries I have arranged for some very capable and very friendly people to take care of you and the property.

Taking over for me on September 1st are my sister and brother in law, Linda and Bruce DeBolt. Meet Linda & Bruce.

Bill Schade and his wife will be up here for the last two weeks of September. Then Jessica Wallace will finish off the season the first week of October.

It has been a wonderful summer up here. Thank you to all of you for the privilege of being your Caretaker. Have a great winter.

Good morning from Naylor Lake, it was 41 degrees this morning, no wind, a gorgeous morning. Haven’t seen the eagle today?

Notice our three Merganser (I’m told) ducks taking an early morning swim across the Lake.

My time here is drawing to an end soon this season and I’m already getting nostalgic. I will introduce my replacement soon.

Have a great day.

Good morning from Naylor Lake, 48 degrees, no wind. One of the eagles was soaring over the cabin when I went out to take the picture this morning. It’s still perched in the very top of a tree near the cabins looking towards the lake.

Rain, rain go away…all day and night yesterday. The sun is starting to peak thru so there is some hope for today although the forecast doesn’t look good.

The Lake disappeared last evening.

Have a great day.

Good morning from Naylor Lake, 47 degrees, no wind. Lots of rain and hail yesterday afternoon and during the night. Sun tried to peek thru early but the clouds moved back in. Early morning fisherman on the Lake.

Have a great day!

Good morning from Naylor Lake, a cool 44 degrees this morning, light wind. A gale blew all day yesterday, it gusted so strongly in the afternoon I got concerned for the first time about the flag so I took it down. Back up this morning 😃.

Have a great day!

Good morning from Naylor Lake, 47 degrees, beautiful sunny morning, no wind. It’s now 11 a.m. and still no wind!

Sorry I haven’t posted for a few days. Totally forgot last Monday, it was 37 degrees that morning.

The Younger family were up here last weekend staying in the cabins, fishing from boats on the Lake. Ethel Younger sent me some beautiful pictures that she took.

Notice Mt. Evans and Sawtooth.
From the Cabins. The lighting was extraordinary.
Wyatt Grundy’s big catch

My privilege to be in such a beautiful place. Thank you.

Have a great day.

Good morning from Naylor Lake, 47 degrees, cloudy, no wind. This is the first cloudy day of the season and chilly!

Wow, yesterday it was like Grand Central Station up here. Two cabins occupied Thursday night, all three occupied Friday/Saturday/Sunday with a big family group, ten other Members and guests. Great day with perfect weather!

Have a great day.

Good morning from Naylor Lake, 47 degrees, light wind, so far. Notice in the picture that the rock island is just peaking above water level, so the level is coming down.

Yesterday was a momentous day. We got a new flagpole, a much higher one, I believe 6 ft. higher?

Linden Parker, Naylor President and Bryan Buckland putting together the pipe sections.
Thank goodness Jim Jordan and guest, Mike Jack were available to help.
When the pole was ready to be lifted and screwed into the original base Bryan needed to reposition the truck so Jim and Linden were holding it in place.

All of a sudden a hurricane force wind came off of the Lake!!! They prevailed!

Placing the pole.
None of us knew how to actually hang the flag so we were googling it. That’s when Jim Blugerman stepped in.
Looks great. We’ve all missed the flag.

Thank you to everyone for their efforts in this project.

Have a great day.

Good morning from Naylor Lake, 42 degrees, no wind. Yesterday was an absolutely gorgeous day, with little wind. We did have the late afternoon storm with rain which is becoming an everyday occurrence. Also had very low clouds drifting in from the east.

Wonderful visit yesterday with the Bucklands and Williams’s (my sister/brother -in-law), we’re all related by the marriage of Shannon Williams and Mark Buckland. Shannon stayed home with baby, Marley Anna Buckland.

Have a great day.

Good morning from Naylor Lake, 44 degrees, sunny, still very windy.

One of my favorite areas on the trail not too far from the cabins.

Had a military fighter jet fly over the lake this morning. What a reminder that we really aren’t that far from civilization.

Have a great day!

Good morning from Naylor Lake, 50 degrees, no wind. Another beautiful morning in paradise! Have two beautiful eagles nesting on our lake.

We had another late afternoon storm yesterday with some hail. Rainbow not as spectacular as the day before but still…

Mike Shannon (my brother-in-law) and I put in a long work day yesterday at the cabins fixing various things… Door on Cabin 1, screen on the front window, hole in the side of Cabin 2, hanging fire extinguishers, caulking/priming/painting. He’s leaving tomorrow, will be sorry to see my helper go.

Have a great day .

Good morning from Naylor Lake, 47 degrees, sun is coming up, no wind, yet! The water level of the lake has receded quite a bit so it is now possible to walk along the trail on the south side. Had a small wind/rain storm blow through yesterday afternoon.

This week my sister and brother-in-law, Caroline and Mike are visiting. Mike is a master carpenter who is happy to help with projects around the property. He’s been working on the old shed (#2) to try to delay it’s collapse. He found this inscription on the inside, right, upper corner (see below).

Have a great day.

Good morning from Naylor Lake, 49 degrees, no wind. Another beautiful morning on the lake!

Finally a sighting of the eagle. I’m posting a picture the Younger’s took while on the lake yesterday morning.

Also, a young moose was spotted on the south shoreline yesterday morning.

Congratulations to Shannon and Mark Buckland on the arrival of their baby girl, Marley, on Monday, 7/24.

Have a good day.

Good morning from Naylor Lake, more like afternoon now, WiFi problems earlier. Another gorgeous day. No wind, 54 degrees at 6:30 a. m.

The wind is very fickle this year, it comes and goes throughout the whole day. 73 degrees at 3:30 p. m.

Have a great day.

Good morning from Naylor Lake. Absolutely beautiful today. 47 degrees at 7 am, no wind, crystal clear lake this morning. As I’m writing this at noon, the wind has picked up, 65 degrees.

The reason I’m posting so late today is because I had to go into Idaho Springs to run an errand. It’s the first time I’ve ever left the property on a weekend. It seems like half of Colorado is at Silver Dollar, either driving or hiking up and there are only two members with guests here on property! Some weekends this year there has been no one here.

Have a great day!

Good morning from Naylor Lake, another beautiful day in paradise! 47 degrees and warming quickly, no wind so far.

Yesterday was a strange day, on and off beautiful and sunny, then cloudy and rainy, at one point it hailed!

Walter Vest sent this pic he took from the cabins on 7/16.

Have a good day🌞.

Good morning from Naylor Lake. Sunny, not a cloud in the sky, 57 degrees, some wind.

Yesterday I tried hiking the southern trail around the lake, but didn’t get far. The water has cut off access to the trail. I only tried it because the day before I noticed two of our fisherman were on the banks farther down. They must have climbed over the hill to get to the trail.

Our high yesterday was 75 (+/-) degrees!!

Can anyone tell me the name of this flower?

Have a great day🌞

Beautiful sunset last evening.

Good morning from Naylor Lake. Another beautiful morning in paradise. Sunny, 44 degrees, no wind.
Posting this picture to show how high the water is getting.

Last evening went into Georgetown for dinner and on the way back saw two moose. Have a great day. Hope to see everyone soon

Good morning from Naylor Lake. Another beautiful day, at 7 a.m. 47 degrees and no wind. At 8:20, 52 degrees, wind picking up.

Yesterday I hiked the north trail. It is in wonderful shape but you cannot get to the inlet because of the water level of the lake. The south trail is not passable to the inlet either. The lake is steadily rising with the snow melt.

Good morning from Naylor Lake, a stunning morning! At 7 a.m. no wind as you can see from the beauty of the lake, 41 degrees, quickly warming. Yesterday we had an amazing high of 73 degrees.
Late afternoon visitors yesterday! What a thrill to see these two. Mama just stared at me a few minutes then moved on leaving baby to follow her.

Members have noted in the logbook that we have a pair of eagles. I haven’t seen them yet but on the lookout. We do have some ducks.

Hope to see more Members/Guests soon!

Good morning from Naylor Lake. At 7 a.m. it was 45 degrees and warming. Sunny with low lying clouds hanging in the east and west but the sun is shining thru. We have some early fisherman on the lake this morning.

I want to send a thank you to the Younger’s for bringing firewood for the cabins.

Good morning from Naylor Lake. It’s beautiful this morning as you can see from the photo, sunny, no wind but it’s picking up, 44 degrees.

Mark Buckland asked if I would post daily/weekly weather or other happenings here at the lake. We got a late but quick start with a good crew to open. Three days later my daughter and granddaughter flew in for a 3 day visit, then the fish stocking, and July 4th. It has been a whirlwind but such fun. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone this year. My days off are Tuesday/Wednesday. Suzanne
